Sandra M. had a dilemma. She was living in Southern California and needed to move back to Pennsylvania to be closer to family. If it was just a matter of her moving by herself, she could easily ship her home contents and fly to her new home. But Sandra cared for two important family members: her petite mother, in her 80s, and her 70-pound pit bull, Koji. Flying was out of the question when moving with pets and a loved one.

“I thought about driving, but I would be the one doing all the driving and it would be uncomfortable for Mom,” Sandra said. “I then Googled Cruise America and considered renting an RV through them, but I didn’t want to drive. I also was concerned about safety. Mom has mobility challenges, and I was worried about two women traveling alone with a dog.”

She continued searching online until she found LiTRV. She saw that she could get a quote by filling out a form on the website and within a day of doing so, she received a call from LiTRV co-owner, Jim Colletti.

“I had considered some other firms whose pricing was competitive with LiTRV’s, but when Jim contacted me, he was so polite and friendly, I was relieved to find a firm I could count on,” she said. “I had been worried about how we were going to move across country, and Jim walked me through the entire process and answered all my questions. It was a huge weight that was lifted off my shoulders.”

Moving with Pets and Loved Ones: A Safe, Comfortable Journey

When LiTRV’s private driver, Cory, pulled up to their home in the 45-foot Berkshire luxury motorcoach to pick them up, Sandra and her mother were not sure what to expect.

“Mom loved it,” Sandra said. “She was surprised at how much space there was when it was fully open. She often sat at the kitchen table, looking out the window, and she texted her friends a lot from there. Sometimes she would move to the bedroom to watch TV.”

Sandra was also impressed with the amenities and said she appreciated Cory’s help with making sure her mother and Koji were comfortable.

“Cory helped Mom up and down the stairs in and out of the motorcoach. We stored her walker underneath and she kept her cane inside,” she said. “I was also relieved that the shower had a seat for her.”

Koji had his dog bed, but he would often sleep on the couch when the motorcoach was driving. At 14 years old, Koji still thinks he is a puppy, and he loved to play fetch inside the motorcoach when it was parked with the slides open.

Sandra said she especially liked the luxurious feel of the motorcoach. “We felt spoiled and pampered,” she said.

Door-to-Door Service with a Private Driver

Sandra was relieved that LiTRV arranged for a professional driver, and she credits Cory with helping them get “from Point A to Point B.”

“It was simple. Cory took care of everything,” she said. “He did a great job of mapping out our route, maintaining the RV, and he was so polite to my mom and sweet to Koji.”

When they stopped for the night, Cory would stay in a hotel with the motorcoach parked nearby.

“We never felt unsafe,” Sandra said. “Cory always made sure we were okay, and we knew we could call him if we needed him.”

Cooking Meals, Relaxing and Working Remotely

Sandra said there was no time to stop and be tourists. They needed to get to Pennsylvania to close on their new house. So, they brought groceries for the full week and enjoyed cooking Japanese food together.

“Mom grew up in Japan and she has some wonderful recipes,” Sandra said. “I cooked more on the RV than I normally do, and I really enjoyed it.”

Sandra also stored Koji’s food in the refrigerator, and he enjoyed his meals too.

The fully equipped kitchen included a full-size, residential-style refrigerator with a freezer, a heat-induction range, featuring two to three burners and a convection microwave, making it easy to sauté vegetables, or cook and reheat meals. The motorcoach also included a full range of pots, pans, dishes, plates, cups/glasses, utensils, cooking utensils and small appliances. The expansive kitchen also included a dishwasher.

Strong Internet Access

Many of the luxury motorcoaches that LiTRV rents include Starlink mobile high speed internet connectivity.

While Sandra’s mother and Koji relaxed, she often logged onto her laptop to work.

“I’m a computer engineer and have been working remotely for over a decade,” she said. “The internet was fantastic, and I was able to join team meetings while on the motorcoach and do other work.”

Her advice for others thinking of renting a luxury motorcoach through LiTRV?

“Go for it,” she said, “You won’t regret it!”
