Frank and Sherri G. were getting ready to celebrate milestone birthdays – he was turning 80 and she was turning 65.
The Scottsdale couple likes to vacation in September, and most of their trips have been to Europe, but this year, Frank had a different idea.
“It dawned on me that I had not seen the national parks in our country,” Frank said. “It was something Sherri wanted to do, too.”

Years ago, Sherri had wanted to buy an RV and travel around the country, but Frank was concerned he could not manage and maintain it. They decided to research how to rent a luxury motorcoach with a private driver and plan a trip to visit some of the national parks with their dog, Arlo, a 20-pound Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.
Their research led them to LiTRV – Luxury in Travel, and after some conversations with both co-owners, Mike Bloomquist and Jim Colletti, the couple decided to plan their trip with LiTRV.
“We found them to be very straightforward, and we had a good, warm and fuzzy feeling about both of them,” Frank said.
Awed by America’s Natural Beauty
Because they had never traveled in any type of RV before, Frank and Sherri leaned on LiTRV to help assess which type of luxury motorcoach would be best for their trip. They also appreciated having LiTRV’s concierge, Mandy, help them plan their itinerary to Arches National Park, Bryce Canyon, Capitol Reef and Zion National Park in Utah, the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming, and Monument Valley, a Navajo Tribal Park located on the Navajo Nation. Their adventure included special excursions, including jeep tours, sunset wildlife tours, stargazing, and other private, guided tours.

Frank said the vacation on a luxury motorcoach to so many beautiful destinations exceeded their expectations.
“The parks were beautiful…they were all unique. Everything was new and fresh,” he said. “Prior to this trip, Sherri’s favorite vacation was to Africa, where we spent three weeks on safari. When we came home, she said that this trip to the national parks may be her favorite vacation. She really loved it.”
From the geysers, mud pots and wildlife at Yellowstone to the striking, “incredible” rock formations of Arches, it is hard for them to say which park was their favorite.
Frank said they loved them all, and he was especially glad they were able to see Monument Valley.

“I grew up watching John Ford’s western cowboy movies, and I always wanted to see Monument Valley in person,” he said. “That was a very special day for me.”
Peace of Mind with Their Private Driver
Frank credits LiTRV with going above and beyond to make their vacation memorable, and he was especially complimentary of their driver, Randy.
“The driver can make or break a trip, and Randy was absolutely fantastic…he became a member of our family,” Frank said. “He always had a smile on his face, and nothing was too much for him.”
A dog lover himself, Randy and Arlo became fast friends.
“Arlo is 2 ½ years old, but he still has a lot of puppy energy,” Frank said. “Randy was wonderful with him. Normally, I would look over my shoulder, but I never had to do that with Randy. He genuinely cared for Arlo without making it feel like it was a job.”
Amenities Provided Comfort and Convenience
Frank and Sherri saw photos of the luxury motorcoach prior to their trip, but they were not sure what to expect since they had never traveled in any type of RV before.
Much like a luxury hotel suite, a luxury motorcoach features the convenience of an expansive kitchen, comfortable beds, and multiple bathrooms. Some motorcoaches have electric fireplaces, heated floors, and state-of-the-art entertainment centers. There’s also plenty of room for pets to stretch out and relax and ample room for luggage. All luxury motorcoaches have Smart TVs throughout and WIFI access.
“Our king-sized bed had a really good mattress, and I slept beautifully,” Frank said. “I have a bad back, but I started every day energized and feeling good for the entire 12-day trip, which I really appreciated.”
He and Sherri also took advantage of the kitchen by stocking up the refrigerator with food and cooking on travel days.
“The freezer was the same size as what we have at home,” Frank said. “We also appreciated having Randy’s help with taking out the grill so we could cook outside when we were staying overnight at one of the stops.”
Frank said Arlo was very comfortable on the motorcoach and he spent a lot of time cuddled up on the couch. “It was very comfortable. As far as amenities go, we had everything we could ask for,” he said.
They also appreciated that LiTRV towed a company car behind the motorcoach. “The car we towed was very instrumental in the success of the trip,” Frank said.

Customer Care Made a Difference
Frank and Sherri were pleased they chose to celebrate their birthdays with a road trip adventure to see some of the Southwest’s most popular national parks. They were fortunate to have great weather, and they loved meeting so many different, kind people throughout their journey.

They were also very appreciative of LiTRV’s team and their commitment to providing exceptional customer service.
“I was a business owner for more than five decades, and I can tell you that a company is only as good as everyone who is involved,” Frank said. “Jim, Mike, Randy and Mandy were all very attentive to details and they went above and beyond to make sure Sherri and I were comfortable and enjoying our trip. Everyone on their team is ‘cut from the same cloth’ with a genuine, shared commitment to customer service.”
Frank said that Sherri “would go again tomorrow,” and that the only thing they would do differently is to plan a few extra days at each destination so they could relax at the luxury RV resorts and explore the towns and other local attractions near the parks.
“It was one of our favorite trips, and everything turned out beautifully,” he said.
